TESTIMONIALS:

Hip place – great vibe – go earlier if you are “of an age” later if you are club age
“I am American, but I do not eat American food every night. Like most, I mix it up with foods from around the world. Traveling the globe I find that French, Italian, German, Japanese – people everywhere like some variety. So if you are traveling to Morocco for more than a few days, or if you live there, you would seek variety beyond traditional Moroccan cuisine. Bo  Zin offers an great alternative.

Bo  Zin has what Americans call a “mash up” menu. They take dishes that are Asian, European, Moroccan then they change them. You can recognize the old dish, but it has a new, different flavor. In that way, you cannot pigeonhole the Bo  Zin cuisine.

But it is very good. The small-plate oriented menu, stolen from the Spanish idea of tapas but now almost everywhere, allows you to try a number of different dishes. For 2, it would not be unusual to try 6 or even 8 small bite plates.

But Bo  Zin also pre-thought their clientele, and they have put together pairings. So if you have 4, 6 or 8 people – the more the better – you can order variations on dishes, a few more bits to each dish, and make it a very friendly, family-style method of eating and sharing — and great for conversation. I found the menu interesting, exciting in its freethinking and mash-up offerings, and perfect for people who are out to have a good time.

And that leads to the sort of “2 sides” of Bo  Zin. It is not just a restaurant, but also a night club. So, depending on your age, you’ll have a different experience.

Since we “are of an age” (I just hate to say I’m over 50!) we are no longer the night club set. We ate at 8:30, and thus were “early diners.” So we enjoyed a very lingering, fun, and romantic as we enjoyed the fireplaces and the time to talk. But as 9:00 came, and move toward 10:00 and later the place increasingly became dominated by younger people (30s-ish).

Clearly, they were there to meet, dine, enjoy and have a club experience.

Bo  Zin on this Friday evening was quickly on its way to looking like a fairly exclusive place in Las Vegas. So, if you are of THAT age, book a table, and enjoy great food, fun and dancing. As we departed, in the 11:00 range as I recall, the front was already filling with younger people working the hostesses hard for the tables they wanted (oh, so good to leave youth for the young. Although they all looked ready for a great evening.)

BTW – there is both indoor and outdoor dining – and it is clear the party goes outdoors as well. But we were there in late November, so it was far too cold for outdoor dining. But in the warmer months, I’m sure it is quite the fun time to eat and party outdoors well through the night at Bo  Zin.

Back to our meal. Several cocktails (we had pre-arranged a driver back to hotel) and a bottle of nice wine with about 2 hours of eating small bites and the tab with tip and tax was $130. Worth noting the food portion was only $58 – but this is a place as much for drinking as eating in my opinion.

Great vibe. I would highly recommend as something fun, youthful, different and global on a visit to MarrakechVisited November 2015
